I recently saw this quote from Fulton Oursler, the author of The Greatest Story Ever Told. In a short sentence he says a lot of truth. "Many of us crucify ourselves between two thieves -- regret for the past and fear of the future."
I've reached the age when my identity has to do with what Erik Erikson termed generativity. In order to avoid self-absorption, I want to be giving to others. I have done this by teaching Spiritual Formation as well as Pastoral Care and Counseling at the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky. I'm also a Marriage and Family Therapist as well as a Spiritually Informed Therapist and Co-Director of the Interfaith Counseling Center. My history is a moderate Baptist with a strong ecumenical and interfaith involvement and beliefs. I have a meaningful life with a good sense of health and happiness.
